Yale shows up most in PSL condos, gated communities, and the hotel / resort accounts along the coast. Yale Assure smart deadbolts at the Treasure Coast hotels, Real Living YRD216 on Sandpiper Bay condo doors, Yale 8800 mortise on PSL commercial. We install, troubleshoot, and rekey the entire Yale residential and commercial line.
Yale locksmith in Port St. Lucie - install and service Yale Real Living (YRD216, YRD256), Yale Assure (YRD426, YRD446, YRD456), Yale 8800 commercial mortise, Yale L8200 series.
Hotel and condo accounts a specialty - we work with PSL property managers on rekey rotations, master-key systems, and after-tenant rekeys.
Yale is owned by ASSA Abloy, so we cross-service Yale, Sargent, Corbin Russwin and Adams Rite on the same visit when needed.
Yale has split the residential and commercial sides of the brand cleanly. On the residential side, the calls are about the Assure SL or Assure 2 - the SL is the touchscreen deadbolt with no keypad cylinder, and when the touchscreen panel dies or the smart module (Z-Wave, Zigbee, or Wi-Fi) drops the connection, there is no mechanical key bypass at all. The homeowner is locked out and the only way in is non-destructive entry through another opening, or pulling the smart module to factory reset.
The Assure 2 with the keyway is more forgiving but we still get calls where the module pairing has failed after a SmartThings hub swap or a HomeKit upgrade. New Traditions interconnected entry-set on older PSL homes is the other residential call - the spring cassette wears out, the lever droops, and the homeowner thinks the whole assembly needs replacement when it's a $30 cassette job.
On the commercial side, Yale Nexa mortise locks are spec'd into a lot of PSL multi-family and assisted-living buildings. When the building owner needs rekeys, cylinder swaps, or a master-key system rebuild, most generic locksmiths won't touch Nexa because the parts aren't on a standard van.
Yale on the van: Assure SL, Assure 2, Real Living, New Traditions trim, Nexa commercial cylinders. We troubleshoot Z-Wave / Zigbee / Wi-Fi pairing and handle Nexa commercial work most dispatch services punt. Call (772) 284-5142.
Touchscreen-only Yale Assure SL locked out? We non-destructively enter through another opening, then factory-reset the deadbolt and re-pair on-site.
Yale Nexa mortise cylinders for PSL multi-family, assisted-living and small commercial buildings. Most dispatch services don't carry these - we do.
Assure 2 dropped off your hub after a router or SmartThings upgrade? We re-pair across Z-Wave Plus, Zigbee 3.0, and Yale Access Wi-Fi modules.
Drooping lever on an older Yale New Traditions entry-set? Cassette replacement runs $80-160 vs $400+ for full assembly replacement.
Includes hardware ($170-280 MSRP), smart module pairing, app setup, mechanical-key cylinder rekey for Assure 2 models.
Apartment, assisted-living, or small commercial property with Yale Nexa? We design and cut master / sub-master systems and document the bitting.
Yale's residential smart-lock line (Assure) is sold at every big-box, but the commercial Nexa line lives in a different distribution channel that most PSL locksmiths skip. We carry both. We also handle the older New Traditions retrofits on Bayshore Boulevard and Sandpiper Bay homes where the brand has been the default for thirty years.
Most locksmiths will tell you they have to drill an Assure SL when the touchscreen dies. We non-destructively enter elsewhere, factory reset the deadbolt, re-pair. No damage.
Yale Nexa cylinders, cores, and mortise parts on every truck. Commercial dispatch services either don't carry these or charge a 60% parts markup on the back-order.
Z-Wave, Zigbee, and Yale Access Wi-Fi modules each have their own pairing sequence. We carry replacement modules and know the reset combos cold.
Door companies will tell PSL homeowners with droopy Yale New Traditions levers that they need a whole new entry-set. The fix is usually a $30 cassette and 25 minutes.
Yale's catalog is heaviest on smart locks and commercial mortise. The residential mechanical line is smaller than Schlage or Kwikset, but the smart-lock and commercial lines are where Yale leads in PSL.
Yale Real Living (YRD216, YRD256). Mid-tier residential smart deadbolt. Push-button keypad, no Wi-Fi built in (uses a Z-Wave or Zigbee module that plugs into the back). Common in PSL condos and gated-community single-family. We rebuild the gearbox when the motor strips, replace the keypad when buttons fail, and swap the cylinder when the mechanical-key bypass corrodes.
Yale Assure (YRD426, YRD446, YRD456). Yale's flagship smart-lock line. Touchscreen keypad on the YRD446 / YRD456, push-button on YRD426. Modular - the same lock body accepts Z-Wave, Zigbee, or Yale Access (Wi-Fi via the Connect Bridge). The YRD256-NR (no rekey) is the model used in a lot of PSL short-term rental accounts because it has no keyhole at all - no lost-keys problem.
Yale 8800 series mortise locks. Heavy commercial mortise body, ANSI Grade 1. The default spec on a lot of PSL office, multi-family, and small-commercial work. We rekey, replace levers (8800 uses Augusta, Pacific, Monroe lever styles), swap cylinders (Yale para-keyway standard, or ASSA Abloy CLIQ / eCLIQ for restricted), and rebuild the latch unit.
Yale L8200 series. Lighter commercial / multi-family mortise. Common in PSL apartment building turnover work - tenant out, rekey the L8200 in 12 minutes per unit. We do whole-property rotations for several PSL property managers.
Yale nexTouch (NTB / NTM commercial). Commercial keypad smart locks for offices, gyms, medical. Programmable codes, audit trail when paired with the Yale access platform. We install and program.
Yale Real Living key-in-knob and lever. Less common - mostly back-of-house residential doors paired with a Yale deadbolt. We rekey to match the deadbolt.

Hotels and resorts. The Marriott, Hilton, and boutique-hotel properties along PSL Boulevard and out toward Hutchinson Island run on Yale (and Yale-Sargent commercial) systems. We do post-incident rekeys, master-key changes, lost-key card resets, and emergency lockouts.
Condos and gated communities. Sandpiper Bay, Magnolia Lakes, the PGA Verano condos, and most of the older condo stock north of Walton Road run heavy on Yale Real Living and Assure for unit-owner doors. Building common-area doors are often Yale 8800 mortise. We work both - unit owner rekey + property-manager master.
Short-term rentals (Airbnb / VRBO). The Yale Assure YRD256-NR (no keyhole) is the dominant short-term-rental smart lock in PSL because there is no key to lose and no key to copy. Codes rotate per guest via the Yale Access app or a property-management system (Hospitable, Hostfully, OwnerRez). We install and integrate with the PMS.
Salt-air durability. Yale's exterior hardware finishes hold up well in coastal PSL. We have Yale Real Living deadbolts that are 8+ years out on Hutchinson Island and the cylinder still functions. The buttons on the keypads age faster - typically the first warranty claim around year 4-5.
What Yale is not. Yale mechanical residential deadbolts (without the smart side) are less pick-resistant than Schlage B660 or Medeco. If your priority is mechanical pick / bump resistance on a residential door, Yale is not the brand to spec - go Schlage Primus, Medeco 3, or Mul-T-Lock MT5+. For smart locks and commercial mortise, Yale is excellent.

Call (772) 284-5142Yes, Yale Real Living and Yale Assure are rated for outdoor / exterior-door use and we have units 8+ years out on Hutchinson Island and Jensen Beach coastal homes. The two age-out issues in Florida are (1) keypad button responsiveness around year 4-5 (UV + humidity), and (2) the exterior trim finish on cheaper finishes (oil-rubbed bronze especially). Yale Assure in satin nickel or matte black holds up best in coastal PSL.
Install labor: $180-280. Hardware: $220-340 for the YRD426, YRD446 or YRD456 depending on finish and module (Z-Wave, Zigbee, Wi-Fi). Total typical install runs $400-620 all-in, including app pairing, code setup, and integration with your hub or property-management system.
Yes - the cylinder unscrews from the mortise body and rekeys independently. $35-65 per cylinder, 10-15 minutes per door. We do this all the time on PSL apartment rotations and post-tenant change-overs - no need to pull the mortise body out unless the latch or hub is mechanically failing.
For smart locks specifically, Yale Assure is generally regarded as more flexible (modular Z-Wave / Zigbee / Wi-Fi) and Yale's app + cloud platform is more polished than Schlage's. Schlage Encode has built-in Wi-Fi without needing a separate module, which is simpler. For property-management integrations (Airbnb, VRBO automation), Yale Assure has wider PMS support. For mechanical pick-resistance, Schlage Primus beats Yale's standard cylinder.
Yes, we do apartment and rental-unit rekey rotations for several PSL property managers. Yale L8200 mortise units rekey in 12-20 minutes per door, three new keys included. Multi-unit pricing: $45-75 per unit on 5+ doors same visit. We can be added to your tenant-turnover checklist and dispatch the same day a unit goes vacant.
Yale Real Living is the older line - YRD216 with push-button keypad, mechanical-key backup, requires a separate Z-Wave or Zigbee module for smart-home integration. Yale Assure is the current flagship - YRD426 / YRD446 / YRD456 with touchscreen or push-button options, modular smart-home connectivity (including built-in Wi-Fi via the Yale Connect Bridge), and the YRD256-NR no-keyhole option for short-term rentals. Assure is the recommend for new installs.
Yale work concentrates in PSL condos (Sandpiper Bay, Magnolia Lakes), gated-community single-family (PGA Verano, Lakeforest), hotel and resort along the coast (Hutchinson Island, Jensen Beach), short-term rentals across Tradition and Riverwalk, and commercial mortise along US-1 and PSL Boulevard.
