Keyless entry / code keypad locks in Port St. Lucie - Schlage BE365, Kwikset SmartCode 260, Yale YRD216. Code entry plus a backup physical key. No WiFi, no app, no subscription, no smartphone needed.
Installation $220-360 including hardware. Existing deadbolt bore - 30-45 min install. New bore drilled - 60-75 min.
Distinct from smart locks (Schlage Encode / Yale Assure / August) which are phone-controlled and need WiFi - those are on our smart lock page.
You manage a short-term rental in Tradition or off A1A in Jensen Beach, guest's flight got delayed, they land at 11:40 PM, and you're still hiding a key under a fake rock by the AC unit. Last guest left the key in the door, the one before that mailed it back three weeks late, and your cleaner has been asking for her own key for six months.
Keyless entry solves this in one move. A Schlage Encode or Yale Assure with code-per-guest means the guest gets a unique 4-digit PIN on the day they arrive, code expires at checkout, cleaner has her own permanent code, and you never mail a key again. Works for HOA-compliant homes too: deadbolt looks stock from the street.
Doctor Lockout installs Wi-Fi keypad deadbolts and code-management for STR hosts, parents of teenagers, and anyone tired of hiding keys. Install $160 to $340 with code setup. Call (772) 284-5142.
Guest, cleaner, contractor, dog walker - separate codes, separate audit trails. Cleaner doesn't accidentally walk in during a guest stay.
Guest's code dies at 11 AM Sunday checkout. No more chasing returned keys. No more rekeys between bookings.
Forgot to set the guest code before you boarded the plane? Update from the gate. Works on cell data, no laptop needed.
Most Yale Assure and Schlage Encode models look like a standard deadbolt from the street. Tradition and PGA Verano HOAs typically approve.
Wi-Fi down, batteries dead, hurricane week - the lock still opens with a real key. We rekey the backup to your existing house key.
Long-term rental hosts save the $80 rekey + key-cut cost on every move-out. Pays for itself in 2 to 4 tenant cycles.
Buying a keypad deadbolt and installing it is the easy half. The hard half is the code-management routine, the misaligned strike that drains batteries in six weeks, and the Wi-Fi pairing that silently dropped last Tuesday and now your guest is locked out at midnight. STR hosts can't afford either failure.
We set up your guest-code template, cleaner code, owner code, and emergency code at install. You leave with a working system, not a box of parts.
Airbnb auto-generates codes for some locks. We pick a model that integrates with your booking platform so codes update without manual entry.
We test from outside the house at 50 feet to confirm the Wi-Fi signal reaches the lock. Marginal signal is the #1 cause of midnight lockouts.
Guest can't get in at 11 PM, you call us, we walk them through the keypad or come unlock the door. Big-box installers don't take that call.
The terms get used interchangeably, but the products are not the same. Worth understanding the difference before you buy.

Call (772) 284-5142A keypad lock uses a numeric code entered on the lock itself - no WiFi, no app, no phone needed. A smart lock connects to WiFi or Bluetooth and is controlled through an app on your phone, with features like remote unlock, activity logs, and integration with Alexa or Google Home. Keypad locks are simpler, cheaper, and more reliable. Smart locks have more features but more ways to fail.
2-3 years typical for Schlage BE365 and Yale YRD216 (4xAA batteries). 12-18 months for Kwikset SmartCode 260 (9V battery). All models give a low-battery warning weeks before total failure - usually a slow blink or beep when you enter a code. Kaba Simplex 1000 has no batteries at all.
Not in the network sense - keypad locks aren't on a network, so there's nothing to hack. The realistic attacks are (1) someone watching you enter your code, (2) someone guessing a simple code like 1234, and (3) on the Kwikset SmartCode, the backup SmartKey cylinder has a known bump-key bypass that affects security. Mitigations: use a 5-6 digit non-obvious code, change it twice a year, and pick Schlage BE365 over Kwikset if security is the priority.
$220-360 total including hardware and labor. Kwikset SmartCode 260: $220-290. Schlage BE365 or Yale YRD216: $260-360. Kaba Simplex 1000 mechanical: $320-440. Add $40-80 if a new bore has to be drilled (rare - most exterior doors already have a deadbolt cut).
All three popular models (Schlage BE365, Kwikset SmartCode 260, Yale YRD216) have a backup mechanical keyway - you keep the physical key in your wallet, car, or hidden somewhere accessible. Kaba Simplex 1000 has no batteries to die. Schlage BE365 also has a 9V external jump terminal on some models that lets you power the keypad temporarily with a 9V battery held to the contacts.
Yes. Schlage BE365 supports 19 user codes. Kwikset SmartCode 260 supports 30. Yale YRD216 supports 25. Most families set 3-5 codes - one per family member plus housekeeper and dog walker codes that can be deleted when the contractor changes. Codes are programmed directly on the keypad, no app or computer needed.
Keypad lock installs cluster in Tradition, Telaro, Veranda Bay, and PGA Verano - newer construction where homeowners want to upgrade from the builder-grade Schlage knob without committing to a full smart lock. Also common in Sandpiper Bay and Hutchinson Island vacation rentals.
