This is what we use on 90% of cars. I slide a thin air wedge between your door and frame. Pump it gently to create a 1-inch gap.

Then I slip in a long reach tool—basically a long thin rod with a hook on the end. I reach down, press your unlock button, and you're back in.

No scratches. No bent doors. No damage to weather stripping. Takes 2-5 minutes once I'm set up.

Slim Jim (Older Vehicles)

If your car's from before 2000, I might use a slim jim. It's a thin metal strip that slides between the window and door panel to manipulate the lock mechanism directly.

Modern cars have airbags in the doors, so slim jims don't work. But older Hondas, Toyotas, and domestic cars? Slim jim's still the fastest tool.

Specialized Tools for Modern Cars

Newer cars are harder to unlock. They've got better seals, electronic locks, and anti-theft systems.

What If My Keys Are in the Trunk?

No problem. Most cars let me access the trunk from inside the cabin once I unlock the door.

If your car has a trunk-only lock and your keys are stuck in there, I can either unlock the trunk latch directly or pop the rear seats and reach through. Either way, you're getting your keys back.

What If My Kid (Or Pet) Is Locked Inside?

Common Car Lockout Questions

Can you unlock a car with push-button start?

Yes. Push-button start cars lock the same way as traditional keyed cars. I unlock them using the same air wedge and long reach tool method.

What if my car alarm goes off when you unlock it?

It probably will. That's normal. Once the door's open, you can turn off the alarm with your key (if you're getting it from inside the car) or I can access the ignition to stop it.

Alarms are loud but harmless. They'll shut off once we sort it out.

Can you unlock a car in the rain?

Yep. Rain doesn't stop me. I've unlocked cars in thunderstorms, during hurricanes (before and after), and in 100-degree heat. Weather's not a factor.

Will my warranty be voided if you unlock my car?

No. Professional lockout service doesn't void any warranties. I'm using approved methods that cause no damage.

How long does it take to unlock a car?

Once I'm there? 2-5 minutes for most cars. Complex vehicles with tight seals might take 10 minutes. But that's rare.

What if my battery's dead?

Doesn't matter for unlocking. I can still get your door open with hand tools.
