Car Key Replacement in Port St. Lucie

Lost your car keys? We'll make new ones on-site. Cut, program, test. 30-60 minutes. No towing. Save 50-70% vs. dealer prices.

Why Port St. Lucie Drivers Call Us Instead of Dealers

Your Honda dealer wants $350 for a replacement key. Plus you have to tow your car there. Plus you need an appointment. Plus they'll take 2-3 days.

Or you can call me. I'll come to you. Make your new key in your driveway. Cut it, program it, test it. You're driving again in under an hour. And it costs $150-200.

That's why people call Doctor Lockout.

I've been making car keys in Port St. Lucie since 2009. Honda, Toyota, Ford, Chevy, BMW, Mercedes, Tesla. Every make, every model, every key type. No appointments. No towing. Just fast, mobile key service.

What Types of Car Keys Can We Make?

Basic Metal Keys (Pre-1998 Cars)

Simple cut keys with no electronics. Older Hondas, Toyotas, domestic trucks.

I cut these on-site in about 10 minutes. Use your VIN or door lock to determine the cuts. Cost: $50-100 including service call.

Transponder Keys (Chip Keys)

Metal keys with an embedded microchip. Most cars from 1998-2015 use these.

The chip has to be programmed to your car's immobilizer. Without the right chip code, your car won't start. It'll turn over for 2 seconds, then die.

I cut the key and program the chip on-site. Takes 30-45 minutes. Cost: $125-250 depending on the car.

Key Fobs (Remote Entry)

Remote controls that lock/unlock doors and pop the trunk. Some have built-in keys, some don't.

I program the fob to your car's receiver and cut the key blade if needed. Cost: $100-300.

Smart Keys (Proximity Keys, Push-Button Start)

Keyless entry. The key stays in your pocket. Car unlocks when you touch the handle. Starts when you press the button.

These are the most expensive because the technology's complicated. But I've got the tools to program them. Cost: $200-400 depending on make/model.

Switchblade Keys (Flip Keys)

Keys where the blade flips out when you press a button. Popular on VW, Audi, and some BMW models.

Cost: $150-350 depending on the brand.

Can You Make a Key If I Lost All My Keys?

Yes. This is actually the most common call I get.

I don't need your old key to make a new one. I use your VIN (vehicle identification number) to determine the key cuts. Or I read your door lock cylinder to figure out the pattern.

Then I program the new key to your car's computer using the OBD-II port (that's the diagnostic port under your steering wheel).

Total time: 45-90 minutes depending on your car. You'll have working keys without ever finding the old ones.

How Car Key Replacement Actually Works

Step 1: You call (772) 284-5142. Tell me your car's year, make, and model. I'll give you a price quote right over the phone.

Step 2: I come to you. Your home, your work, roadside, parking lot. Wherever your car is, that's where I'll meet you.

Step 3: Verify ownership. I need to see your registration, insurance, or title. Plus your driver's license. I'm not making keys for car thieves.

Step 4: Determine the key cuts. I use your VIN or read your lock cylinder to figure out how the key should be cut.

Step 5: Cut the key. I've got a professional key cutting machine in my van. I'll cut your new key right there.

Step 6: Program the chip/fob. I connect to your car's computer and program the transponder chip or fob to work with your vehicle.

Step 7: Test everything. Unlock, lock, trunk access, engine start. Make sure every function works.

You're done. New key. Fully programmed. Ready to drive.

Real Key Replacement Jobs We've Done

The Honda Accord in St. Lucie West

Woman lost her keys at the beach. Only key she had. Car was stuck in her driveway.

I came out, read her door lock, cut a new key, programmed the transponder chip. 40 minutes later, she was driving to get a spare made. Total cost: $165.

Honda dealer quoted her $385 plus towing. She saved $300.

The BMW in Tradition

Guy's key fob stopped working. Tried new batteries. Nothing. Fob was dead.

I came out with a new BMW key fob. Programmed it to his car, cut the emergency blade, tested everything. His car unlocked, started, and the steering wheel didn't lock anymore. Cost: $325.

BMW dealership wanted $650 and a 3-day wait. He got same-day service for half the price.

The F-150 at Fort Pierce

Contractor lost his truck keys on a job site. Searched for 2 hours. Keys were gone.

I met him at the site. Made him two new keys (cut and programmed both). He was back to work in 50 minutes. Cost: $225 for two keys.

Ford dealer wanted $375 per key plus he'd have to tow the truck 15 miles. I saved him $500+ and 4 hours.

Why We're Cheaper Than Car Dealers

Dealers have massive overhead. Fancy showrooms. Sales teams. Service departments. All that costs money, and they pass it to you.

I've got a van and tools. No showroom. No receptionist. Just me and my equipment. Lower overhead means lower prices.

I also source keys directly from suppliers at wholesale prices. Dealers mark them up 300-400%. I mark them up 50-100%. Still make money. You save money. Everybody wins.

How Much Does Car Key Replacement Cost?

Here's what most people pay:

Basic metal key (pre-1998): $50-100

Transponder key (chip key): $125-250

Key fob (remote entry): $100-300

Smart key (proximity key): $200-400

European/luxury brands: $250-500 (BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Porsche)

That includes cutting, programming, testing, and my service call. No hidden fees. No surprise charges.

Emergency after-hours service (midnight-6 AM) adds $75-100. But if you need it now, I'll come now.

What Vehicles Do We Make Keys For?

All of them. Here's what I worked on just this week:

Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Ford F-150, Chevy Silverado, Nissan Altima, Jeep Wrangler, Dodge Ram, Hyundai Elantra, BMW 3-Series, Mercedes C-Class, Tesla Model 3.

If you drive it, I can make keys for it. Domestic, import, luxury, electric. Doesn't matter.

Can You Deactivate My Lost Keys So They Don't Work Anymore?

Yes. This is called "key deletion" or "key deactivation."

If you lost your keys and you're worried someone will find them, I can erase the old key from your car's memory. Then if someone tries to use it, the car won't start.

Works for fobs and smart keys. Basic metal keys can't be deactivated (they're not electronic), but I can rekey your ignition so the old key won't turn.

Do You Make Spare Keys Too?

Yep. Smart move to get a spare before you lose your only key.

Spare key service is usually 10-20% cheaper than emergency replacement because there's no rush. I can schedule it efficiently.

Most people keep a spare at home or give one to a trusted friend. Saves a lot of stress when you inevitably lose your daily key.

What About Key Fob Batteries?

If your fob's not working, it might just be a dead battery. I carry common fob batteries and can replace them on the spot for $15-25.

Signs your fob battery's dying: Reduced range. Intermittent button response. Low battery warning on your dashboard.

I'll test it first. If it's just the battery, I'll swap it. If the fob's actually dead, I'll make you a new one.

Common Car Key Replacement Questions

How long does it take to make a new car key?

30-60 minutes for most keys once I'm on-site. Simple metal keys take 10-15 minutes. Complex smart keys can take up to 90 minutes.

Can you make a key without the VIN?

Yes. I can read your door lock or ignition cylinder to determine the key cuts. But it's easier with the VIN.

Will my car warranty be voided?

No. Third-party key replacement doesn't void any warranties. I'm using the same programming methods dealers use.

What if I need a key for a lease or rental car?

For leased cars, I need to see your lease agreement plus ID. For rentals, call the rental company first—they usually have specific policies.

Can you program multiple keys at once?

Yes. Most people get 2-3 keys made at the same time. Second and third keys are usually cheaper because I'm already there doing the work.

Do you work on motorcycles?

Yes. I make motorcycle keys too. Same process—cut and program (if it's got a chip).

What if my key breaks off in the ignition?

I can extract broken key fragments and make you a new key. Check out our broken key extraction service for that.
