5. Full rekey of every exterior lock. If keys are missing, or if you don't know whether keys are missing, we rekey every exterior lock. Kicked-in door jamb. 80% of PSL residential break-ins use this method. The jamb splits at the strike plate - usually at the deadbolt strike, sometimes at both deadbolt and latch. We rebuild the jamb with a Mag-Plate or Don-Jo full-length strike plate that ties into the wall framing with 3" screws, replace the splintered wood section, and add reinforcement. $180-380 depending on damage extent. The repair leaves the door MORE kick-resistant than original.
Broken lock body. Deadbolt cylinder twisted off, knob handle ripped out, lock body cracked. Replacement with Grade 1 or Grade 2 hardware. $180-420 including the new lock and labor.
Broken window next to lock. The "reach-in" method - break window next to the door knob, reach in, unlock the door. Window glass repair is glazier's work (we'll refer you), but we'll relocate the deadbolt thumb-turn so a future reach-in attempt doesn't work, or install a double-cylinder deadbolt that requires a key from both sides. Caveat: double-cylinder deadbolts on egress doors have to be carefully considered for fire safety. We talk through tradeoffs.
Missing keys. Full rekey of every exterior lock. $180-280 for a typical home. If the burglar took keys to (a) your house, (b) your shed, (c) your car parked outside, all of those have to be addressed. We can rekey shed locks and replace car key (or rekey the car ignition cylinder) the same visit.
Door frame that won't close properly. Sometimes the jamb damage extends to where the door won't latch even after lock replacement. We shim, plane, and adjust to get the door fitting cleanly. If the door itself is damaged (kicked stiles, cracked panels), we recommend replacement and can refer to a same-day door installer.
